Hey besties,
Full disclosure: I've been in build mode, creating something new and exciting for our OTR members (and, of course, a bit for you all too). I've been deep in code and QA instead of group chats, but couldn't miss the chance to share what's been floating around this week. đď¸
đď¸ Earnings upgrade: It's always confused me that while the whole world goes interactive, earnings calls stayed stuck in 1980 with audio-only streams on outdated tech, zero interaction, and a godlike operator who probably hand-picks the nicest analysts for Q&A (and never gets to them all).
We've started to see the IR script flip with Blackstone's Jon Gray's delightful post-earnings shorts, and now Salesforce has said "I see your clip and raise you a full production" with a highly produced, podcast-style earnings call (h/t Brody Ford). We all already know these things are scripted. Now they're at least enjoyable to consume.
đ¨ Pitch perfect: Garth Corfield of The Telegraph shares exactly how he decides which press pitches to read (and which go straight to spam). Media friends, please keep doing this!
𤳠Exec Comms Supreme: Father of content job posts Noah Greenberg loves to share how companies are making interesting hires, and this week's feature is DoorDash. $200k for "a fight promoter meets growth hacker meets clip merchant." AI could never.
đ Still hiring: I want to hear from you: would you take the still-unfilled CCO job at OpenAI? (And what would be your first move â and why is it paying publishers?)
Related: I've been seeing a flurry of top-notch roles opening up on my feed. Job hunters⌠is that cold market warming up?
đ Add to cal: Heading to NY Tech Week? Me neither (womp), but for those who are, here's a list from events queen Amanda Coffee of the top comms and media events.
