Hey friends,

If we were in a group chat, here's everything I would have dropped (at 4:37am because my children have decided this is an appropriate wakeup time): 👇️

Be a builder: Cloudflare recently laid off 20% of its workforce despite record-breaking growth. CEO Matthew Prince candidly revealed which roles he cut to AI: sellers and builders are safe, measurers are not. (h/t Jennifer George for the story and t/y Dad for the WSJ gift link)

Comms people: AI makes it possible to be all three: a builder, a seller, and of course, a measurer. It’s our time to rise up to the challenge.

🚗 Announcement on ramps: Rachel Karten of Link in Bio (literally) wrote out your next announcement strategy. The hint: lots of on-ramps, and assume no one sees anything the first time.

Substack on autopilot: Beejoli Shah (Comms @ Perplexity) shared how she uses Perplexity Computer to build an email digest and dashboard tracking every Substack writer covering her industry, plus their reach beyond the newsletter (X followers, podcasts, etc.). Steal her prompt.

🎬 Internal comms idea we’re loving: Workshop's CMO dropped some fresh ideas for internal comms teams. My fave? "Cast and crew credits" to shout out team members on project launches.

👀 This is how you internet: Most execs see the value of showing up on social. Most also hate the hate that comes with it. The exception: polarizing Beehiiv CEO Tyler Denk, who did not hesitate to hop into the comments on a post about his politics and his competition.

One for the road: How’s this for founder mode? One CEO laid off the entire HR team, leadership team, and rolls back unlimited PTO and a 4-day workweek. (Wait, somewhere had a 4-day workweek?!)

Chat soon,

PS: Last week's most-clicked was Sarah Evans' strategy to get execs to say yes to small pods.
PPS: Also last week I opined about never beating my bots at an A/B subject line test. As the fates would have it.. last week I also beat the AI for the first time.
