Hey friends,

Maybe I spent too much time on airplanes… or was it actually a quieter week in comms? Either way, here's what would've made it into the group chat:

👻 Reddit scares me: Eleanor’s reporting has me asking, who’s doing Reddit? Cause I’mma be honest friends, tread carefully. Be clear about who you are and be helpful. Any whiff of being promotional — even if it doesn’t come from you — will have you accused of doing it all for the AI.

🔥 Better personal branding: My take: you should spend 95% of your time on your exec's social profile and 5% on the brand account (not the other way around). People trust people, not brands. To help: Make LinkedIn Weird's Jillian Richardson has two solid guides on writing hooks and optimizing posts.

✂️ Simplify your language: Biggest takeaway from my talk with app founders in NYC this week? Cut "data-driven" and "AI-powered" from your messaging. If any company could say it, you shouldn't.

🤖 Speaking of AI: Here's a solid prompt guide from Liora Kern at The Think Room for clear communications. (Though I still believe you only need one prompt ever.)

👯 IRL yay: Thanks to everyone who came to the first Off the Record x Meredith & The Media happy hour in NYC. Where should we go next?

PS: Last week’s most-clicked was Katie Porter's on-air F-bomb, with the Crisis Comms Template a close second.
